TraciTalk With TelevisionTraci: What is REALLY Going On !

WHAT IS GOING ON WITH THE DEMOCRATIC PRIMARIES AND CAUCUSES!!!! This has been the craziest week since the voting has began and I can't wait to hear what you think! It all started last week when Hillary decided to pull out all the stops to try and win Ohio, and Texas. I am not surprised I expected this. She really wants this job and will stop at nothing to get it. She put all her eggs in the Ohio, Texas basket and is determined to win.

First, she started with the red-phone ad. When I first saw this commercial my though was who was answering the phone when Bill and Monica were sneaking around the White House? Maybe he had Hillary (as a part of her experience for future president)standing post at the phone and that is why he was able to slip his infidelities, and other things, over on her for so-long. Hillary stand right here just in case it rings.... come on Monica we got all night this time!!

Then everywhere you look everyone is talking about how Hillary has gained her momentum back. She is the come-back kid!! Come back? Last time I checked she was still behind in the delegate count! Yes Hillary did win the Texas primary, Ohio and Rhode Island, but she is currently loosing the Texas caucus (With 41% of the votes counted she is down 56 to 44 percent) and if current number holds true will actually net LESS DELEGATES in Texas than Obama. If the final count comes in and she actually does net less delegates than Obama you think she is dropping out of the race. NOPE!

Now all this talk about counting the Florida and Michigan delegates is just ridiculous. When the decision was made to punish those states for moving up their primaries no one said a word. Both governors demand that their delegates be seated? That is just crazy. Obama’s name was not even on the ballot in Michigan. If the delegates are seated the only way it would be fair is to have both states vote again. But that would punish the Democratic party by adding another bloody battle to list. While Republican candidate John McCain gets his beauty rest and waits to battle the victor. Now, Florida Sen. Bill Nelson is demanding that the Democratic National Committee either accept the results of his state’s primary or cough up the money to stage another election (Real smart Billy-boy then who will pay for the Democratic run again McCain, remember the big election in Nov.) NOBODY TOLD THEM TO MOVE UP THEIR PRIMARY DATES They knew the consequences when they moved the date. Live with it !!

I say the whole thing stinks, and it's getting stinkier by the day!

Traci,

An amazing comment was made a few weeks ago during a panel discussion on Anderson Cooper 360.

The subject was B Obama's unsolicited endorsement by Louis Farakan (sic. Mr. Obama neither approved nor denied Mr. Farakan's endorsement. He basically stated that he (Barrack) could not control how others felt or what they endorsed.

The panel was hammering Obama for riding the fence until. . .

A young black panelist-journalist made the best point I have heard during this election:

To paraphrase this journalist asked "Why is Barrack Obama forced to apologize every time some supports him coming from a radical viewpoint that does not agree with mainstream America.

Our journalist then went on to ask why a prominent (name escapes me) white politician was never, chastised by the media, for the support he received from (deceased) Sen. Strom Thurmond who was a blatant open racist.

After asking this question, Anderson Cooper quickly moved to commercial break and the subject was never mentioned after break.

Imo, it was the greatest example of selective media support or pressure and biased I have ever witnessed.

Sorry for all the loose ends but I just can't remember the names--only the message.

Getting back on topic ... the super delegates will decide the democratic election. The question is will they put Obama in office because he will have the majority of delegates or will they put Clinton in office because she is the old school democratic party machine hack!

Televisiontraci said...

Dean, you have made an excellent point.

Televisiontraci said...

Euroyank, it makes me sick to think 700+ people will make the decision of who will be president. Where is the Democracy in that? And looking through the list of Superdelegates (Kwame Kilpatrick for example) some of these folks are not so SUPER.

JUST LEAVE THE MAN ALONE QUESTION HILLARY ABOUT THE AFFIAR SHE HAD RIGHT WHEN SHE BECAME SEN. HER AND BILL WERE ON DIFFERENT PAGES AT THE TIME.....

Well,I think euroyank hit it on the head.We need to realize that it's the delegates who votes actually decide the nomination.
Just like when they stole the election from Al Gore.
If you think the past two weeks were something, you better hold on,
because you ain't seen nothing yet!

Exactly, which is why it baffles me that the main stream media keeps talking about Hillary's big win! It looks like Obama will be receiving more delegates in Texas so what did she win. How can they even declare her the winner of Texas without knowing EXACTLY how many delegates the state will be giving her? That declaration should have been AFTER they got a final winner on the caucus. Otherwise if Obama does end up with more delegates out of Texas then what? oops ... Obama really won Texas. Hillary should have dropped out after the March 4th election because we declared her the winner but she ended up with the least amount of delegates?

What is going on here!?!?!?!

KAK you may be right.

And the knuckleheads here in Texas still haven't figured out who won the caucus votes. The bizarre thing is that they may not know the winner until the end of the month. Did't we learn anything from the porblems in our past elections. And I won't even adress how I feel the "2 step process" in Texas that minimized the votes of people who voted in the primary. Knuckleheads!

This whole thing is a mess. Although I am rather intrigued after finding out today that it wasn't the democrats in Florida that moved their primary up, but the republican controlled congress in their state. I understand that the republicans attached this to another bill that the democrats wanted and when the bill passed, there ya go!

All Seeing Eye,
The end of the month!! Are you kidding me. I have never followed the Texas primaries this closely before, does it always take that long to get the results from the caucus portion of the vote? Just curious.

Televisiontraci said...

Sheila, Good point!
Either way, the majority still voted for it. And now they will have to stick to it! It makes me mad that the decision was made to move the date and now, they don't want to pay the price. Neither the Democrats or the Republicans. Stand by your choices.

Well Traci, the caucus portion to the primary has been a long standing part of the Democrat primary. I never agreed w/it because it marginalizes the votes of the people who aren't able to get back on election night for the caucus. This should have been changed a long time ago. Early voting is allowed in Texas for those who would have trouble voting on election day. So you have to vote 2x to make sure your vote really counts. In Dallas, it was revealed that they destroyed the documents from the caucus meetings. (it may have also happened in some parts of Houston too) Now they want to throw out the excuse that they were overwhelmed w/the huge turnout. What a BS excuse. They saw the high voter turnout in all of the states prior to TX. They also were able to see how high the turnout was for early voting. So they had time to prepare. This is a freak'in mess that they created. I even told the woman so that gave me my ballot. I wasn't rude; however, i was blunt in telling her how the caucus thing was going to Disenfranchise (remember this claim from 2000?) a large number of voters. Her response was "oh well." But the candidates all knew this going into the race, so I don't feel sorry for any of them now. They should have foreseen the problems. But HC was so confident that the Democrat Nominee was going to be given to her on a silver plattter because she deserved it (give me a freak'in break)... She made the choice to not argue the process then. So both of the candidates shouldn't be trying to change the rules after the game is over. The same is true in FL and Michigan. If those dastardly Republicans were the real force behind moving up the primaries, then why did the national Democrat party punish these states so severely? All of the candidates agreed not to campaign there. If this had to do solely w/Republicans, then I am sure we would have heard about this a lot sooner. Only after HC has discovered that it is almost mathematically impossible for either her or Obama to get enough delegates w/the the 2 of them still campaigning through June, does she now want to give FL and Michigan a re-vote. Her crony Howard Dean leads the Party, and he is changing his tune in favor of a re-vote since HC can't get enough delegates. Dean was so against a re-vote. He said the party was punishing FL and Michigan. I am sorry, but this is their mess that they all created. I hope they take it to the convention and are forced to resolve it in public so there aren't backroom deals...Ok. I am off my soap box.

Holy smokes... I didn't realize that I wrote that much. Sorry about taking up so much space.

No I think it is totally awesome that you took the time to explain it from a Texas point of view. You have really shed some light.

Overwhelmed...are you kidding me. Important documents were destroyed because they were overwhelmed? That sounds very fishy to me. Something this important, and they sound as if they have no idea what is going on. People in those areas must be furious!

I will be so dissapointed in the system if the Florida and Michigan delgates are seated as is.

I would love to see the roll call on that bill so that we can see exactly which politicians voted to move the date and which ones voted against it. I am willing to bet some of those same folks are whining now to have the delegates seated.

Hello Traci,
What is really going on!!! What I think is the old established including most of the media trying to upset the will of the people. I saw this coming at the last debate in Ohio when Hillary complained about always getting the first question. Simultaneously, her campaign staff was making phone calls to the media about them giving Barack a pass. The fact is, we need to do our part. For starters; Africans Americans in both Ohio and Texas only turned out 22% percent of there registered voters. Barack only lost the Texas primary by 100,000 votes. Ohio was not that much difference. Secondly, the districts that had voting problems for the most part were run by elected officials who we voted into office. The same elected officials that have endorsed Hillary with a few exceptions. Just like here in Atlanta the pressure was so high on John Lewis that he changed his endorsement and how he would vote as a super-delegate. Barack will have the most elected delegates in August. Lets keep our eye on the ball and not let Billary and the media take us off our game. They are going to play the game as long as it changes the discussion. We should win Mississippi, North Carolina, South Dakota and Montana. We have a good shot in Oregon and Pennsylvania. We certainly need to help get the vote out in Pennsylvania as well as contribute to Barack’s campaign. Even if it’s only $25.00. That only leaves 4 states that we should be competitive in. Now let’s look at Michigan and Florida. The only way that their delegates get seated is if there is a revote. As much as I don’t like this, it doesn’t scare me if our people turn out the vote and put pressure on the 3 Congressional Black Caucus members (Alcee Hastings, Corrine Brown, and Kendrick Meeks) to change their endorsement of Hillary Clinton. We have the political power to do this. Lets make this happen!!!

Good points Donald, It amazes me how the media has made a turn-around in the last few weeks. I watched Obama win in Wyoming yesterday and you barely heard a whimper. Where was Wolf Blitzer and all the fancy graphics on CNN that is normally there during election coverage? When the results were coming in they had a new anchor doing the coverage? What was that. Was yesterdays vote not as important. Do we not care about the state of Wyoming? Also, you almost NEVER hear about the fact that Obama is winning the Texas caucuses vote talley and will most likely get MORE DELEGATES in Texas than Hillary. All you hear is that Hillary won 3 states (which I don't see how she won Texas, because she will garner less delegates. She won the primary by a very small margin) she did not. I can't believe how the media has just turned it's back on Obama (actually I can) and is so obvious about it.
